-Colleen Arcturus McIsaac, Artistic Producer of The Villains Theatre

Thunder Defayette (she/he) is a lighting designer and multi-disciplinary artist located in Kjipuktuk, Mi'kma'ki. As a creator, Thunder is drawn to art which challenges its audience and reflects the struggles we face in the present. He's a strong believer in the power of storytelling and the catharsis that can be reached through rigorous attention to a piece's themes. Her focus from a technical theatre perspective is on lighting, but she's had experience in set construction, properties, stage management, and set design.

Most recently, Thunder has done lighting design work for Dal Theatre on their 2025 production of Everybody (dir. Severn Thompson), and Anomaly Theatre Co for their staged debut, Dead Man Walking (dir. Emma Lamont). Thunder's writing has been praised as "...unexpected and riveting" (-The Villains Theatre), and "beautiful and intriguing" (-Maika Branch, Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre), and her work has been shortlisted for/awarded a variety of prizes throughout Atlantic Canada.
